Great App for JavaTM UI Development!

Camickr's UI Defaults

Camickr's UI Defaults Properties Viewer is a great tool to speed up JavaTM Swing UI development. A complete open-source package available for immediate download has been compiled by woven-media.com to assist other developers in the Java community. The package includes camickr.jar, an executable jar file of camickr's great viewer that can be launched by double-clicking if you are running JRE (Java Runtime Environment) v1.6 on your system. The application may work with Java 5.0, but I have not tested with that platform. Camickr's UI Defaults was compiled on a Windows XP Professional SP2 machine. If any kind souls could let me know how many different platforms the program can run on, you will get full credit here, and my duke stars too!

The following enhancements have been made to Camickr's UI Defaults.
  • Dr. Lazlo Jamf's javax.swing.UIDefaults Lister comes bundled with Camickr's and inherits four LookAndFeel UIs. This makes Jamf's lister a great icon viewer for the installed pluggable javax.swing.LookAndFeel (PLAF) packages.
  • Copy and Paste support has been added, greatly speeding up development time. Double-clicking on any of the the first two column's table cells will enable selection of the text. Right-click the mouse to launch the copy and paste popup menu.
  • Table rows can be resized to so that icon images can be viewed in their entirety. Table rows will snap back to their default height when the mouse key is released thanks to thomas.kellerer's RowHeightResizer class.
  • Windows Classic Look & Feel support added.
  • Enhanced rendering support for javax.swing.Border and javax.swing.Icon samples.
  • Dr.Jamf's stand-alone lister included (drjamf.jar).
  • Full JavaDoc API Specification for Camickr's UI Defaults classes and com.woven_media.gui.menu popup menu classes, exposing both the public and private interfaces. (see /API/private and /API/public in the camickr.zip source distribution.)
  • Improved exception handling for mutable and immutable object comparisons.

I would like to thank camickr, DrLazloJamf and thomas.kellerer for making their code available on the Sun Java Developer Forum.
